Weekend Scoop for London Families (Oct 7-9)

This weekend’s highlights include £10 tickets for CBeebies Live (get ’em quick), a bear’s picnic at British Museum and the return of Disco Loco (postponed from last Sunday).

And in a sideways nod to a late creative genius, we spotlight Apple Day in south London. RIP Steve Jobs.

HOT TICKET
Fri: CBeebies Live! ‘Reach to the Stars’ £10 SALE LAUNCH! at Wembley Arena (Mar 31-Apr 1, 2012)
Tickets go on sale this Friday Oct 7 and the first 5000 will be sold for just £10! Grab them early and secure your seats for the spectacular show featuring Justin Fletcher MBE, Postman Pat, Zingzillas, Sportacus, Andy Day and more CBeebies favourites. The tour kicks off at Wembley Arena on Mar 31 and runs through Apr 14 at Nottingham’s Capital Arena. Visit www.cbeebieslive.com for details

Sat: The Big Draw: The Teddy Bear’s Picnic at British Museum, Great Russell St, WC1 (Russell Sq tube)
Little artists and their grown-ups are invited along with their favourite furry friends to draw a picture of themselves enjoying a picnic around museum objects in the Great Court. Inspired by the Grayson Perry exhibit and Grayson’s own teddy, Alan Measles. 11am-4pm, free, drop-in. (Oct 8 )

Sat-Sun: Scandinavia Show at Earl’s Court, Brompton Hall, Warwick Rd SW5 (Earl’s Court tube)
Go cool-hunting at this two-day exhibition of Nordic food, design, travel and lifestyle featuring top brands including Saab and Bang &Olufsen, plus kids design companies Baby Beamer, Nordic Elements and a kids’ area with live entertainment. 10am-6pm (Sat), 10am-5pm (Sun); £8 adv/£16 door, kids under 16 free. (Oct 8-9)

Sun: Apple Day at Roots and Shoots, Walnut Tree Walk, Kennington SE11 (Kennington tube)
Come and savour one of the most popular days on London’s autumn calendar with 100 varieties of apples on display, apple pressing demos, food and stalls, plus activities for kids including apple bobbing and storytelling with Sonia. 11am-4pm; adults £1/kids free (Oct 9)

REWIND
Sun: Disco Loco (postponed from Oct 2) at Chats Palace, 42-44 Brooksby Walk, Hackney E9 (Homerton train)
Definitely not a ‘kids disco’ but a family party that’s suitable for all ages, with live music from Real Fur, DJ spinning Motown, disco, pop, new wave, ska and reggae, baby-friendly facilities and quiet room upstairs. 3-6pm, £3 per head/£4 with live act, pre-walkers free. (Oct 9)

LOCAL PICK
Sat: Kids Club Screening: The Aristocats at Everyman Screen on the Green, Upper St, N1 (Angel tube)
When a wealthy feline family are kidnapped by a wily servant, a bunch of street animals including Roquefort the heroic mouse come to their rescue. 10.30am, from £5 adult + child (Oct 8 )
