Fri-Sun: BBC Good Food Show at Westfield Shopping Centre, W14 (Shepherd’s Bush tube)
A three-day feast of cookery and kitchen skills offering summer recipe ideas, live demos from professional chefs and samplings from specialty food and drink producers. 10am-9pm (Fri), 9am-8pm (Sat), 12-6pm (Sun), free entry (Jul 8-10)

Sat-Sun: Pop-Up Festival of Stories at Coram’s Fields and The Brunswick, WC1 (Russell Sq tube)
A weekend of kids’ literature with events including a Moomin tea party, interactive storytelling with Peter Rabbit, a Rastamouse carnival parade, DJ set from Charlie Dark, Francesca Beard, Alex Scheffler (Gruffalo illustrator), Michael Rosen and loads more. 10am-5.30pm, free (Jul 9-10)

Sat-Sun: Kensington Palace Party, Kensington Gardens, W8 (High St Kensington/Queensway tube)
Bring the whole family along for two days of fun including dance classes in Baroque, Regency and Rock & Roll, art activities and costumes, community fashion show and refreshments from the Orangery restaurant stall. 12-6pm, free (Jul 9-10)

Sat: Little Angel Summer Party, 14 Dagmar Passage, N1 (Angel tube)
It’s a celebration with strings attached as the popular company hosts its 50th anniversary shindig with puppet demos, stalls, refreshments, backstage tours and the chance to make a puppet and take it home. 12-5pm, free (Jul 9)
