Fri: Waka on the Thames, Tower Hill/St. Paul’s
Watch a Maori war canoe being rowed across the Thames, then head to Paternoster Square to see the traditional Haka dance. Join thousands at 12.45pm in Guildhall Yard for the Midsummer Streets procession, a vibrant celebration of Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. All part of City of London Festival. From 10.30am, free (Jul 1)

Fri-Sun: The Big Feastival, Clapham Common SW4
Jamie Oliver’s charity foodie extravaganza takes over the Common with top restaurants dishing out meals for £5, live music including Soul II Soul, The Charlatans and The Cuban Brothers, fun for kids with Peppa Pig, Roald Dahl Museum, Peter Rabbit, face painting, bouncy castle and more. From 2-10.30pm (Fri), 12-10.30pm (Sat), 10am-8pm (Sun). Adults £35, kids under 12 Free. (Jul 1-3)

Sat: St Martin’s Courtyard Garden Party, Covent Garden, WC2
The swanky shopping and dining destination throws a summer shebang with music from Sunday Girl, cakes, face painting, magic, a show-stopping dress made out of flowers and 100 goodie bags up for grabs. 12-5pm, free entry (Jul 2)

Local Pick
Sun: The Cally Festival, Caledonian Road, King’s Cross N1
A pop-up boutique festival on the backbone of King’s Cross featuring live stages with music and performance, more than 70 market stalls, Kids’ Zone with circus skills and crafts, puppet making, skateboard demos, street football, Wii tennis and much more. Plus a grassy patch where you can watch Wimbledon finals and eat strawberries! 12-6pm, free (Jul 3)
