Clowning around and crafting on Chinese New Year weekend.

Sat: Family Day at Whitechapel Gallery, E1
Cut, twist, shape and stick in this workshop to explore the power and potential of collage. Free, for all ages. 12pm.

Sat: Roller Derby: Lust for Blood at York Hall, Old Ford Rd, Bethnal Green, E2
Get your skates on if you want to snag tickets for this fierce battle finale between London Rockin’ Rollers crews Voodoo Skull Krushers and Goldie Lookin’ Chain Gang. Family friendly? Your call. Doors 4pm, event 5pm. Adults £10.50, kids £5.50, under fives free.

Sun: Chinese New Year at Museum of London Docklands
Dodge the Trafalgar Square crowds (12-6pm) to decorate a ceramic bunny for the Year of the Rabbit at this family workshop. 12.30-1.30pm and 2.30-3.30pm, free. Ages 3+

Sun: Annual Grimaldi Service at Holy Trinity Church, Beechwood Rd, Dalston E8
Tears of a clown abound as funny men in full slap and motley gather to honour Joseph Grimaldi, the father of clowns and remember those who have joined the big top in the sky. Popular service, arrive early. 3-5pm
