For Mamas & Papas

January 26, 2010 //  by Uju//  Leave a Comment

When I was about to drop with baby number 2, I sent the hubby to Mamas & Papas on Regent’s Street to exchange some cot sheets.

A few hours later, he returned with a glint in his eye.

‘That Mama’s & Papa’s store is very nice,’ he said. ‘It made me feel like impregnating you again.’

I can’t even describe the look on my then 9-months-pregnant face.

But if you or your partner are feeling broody, a trip to Mamas & Papas is sure to bring out the baby-maker in both of you.

The airy and well-lit flagship store just off Oxford Street is decked out in gorgeous clothes, toys and gear as well as a stylish selection for expecting mums. I own two pairs of their maternity jeans which are super-comfy without any hint of frump.

Upstairs, you can explore the nursery section or have a bite to eat at CIBO cafe (only at Regent St branch). It’s on the pricey side (£4 for a smoothie?!) but at least it’s cosy and you can breastfeed freely. In fact, you’re likely to be surrounded by unbuttoned mamas and infants happily guzzling away.

Some friends threw a wonderful baby shower for a close mate here last year and it’s a great spot to hire out since you can set up a gift registry in the shop.

The toilets and baby-changing facilities are adequate. There’s even a room for nursing mums although any time I’m there it appears to be busy (hence all the sucklers in the cafe!).

Mamas & Papas also does great discounts and special offers – their End of Winter Sale wraps up this Sunday Jan 31.

And if you’re a fan of Strictly Come Dancing, you might want to catch Tess Daly who’s signing copies of her book The Baby Diaries at CIBO Cafe on Feb 18 at 10 am. Visit Mamas & Papas for details on this and other outlets.
