What is the most important gift you can give to a new mum? The gift of time. I don’t just mean time in the existential sense. Because sure, those days, weeks, months and years fly by all too quickly. Sometimes you want to press the pause button on your kids. But I’m talking about time to do the most basic things e.g. wash your hair, drink a cup of tea… sleep! The Mummy Company is a bespoke service for mums (and dads) that provides just that, and a whole heap more.
Snap up a gift voucher for a new mama and one of the Mummy Company’s team will go straight to her home, to help out in any way she needs. Whether that’s cooking a meal, cleaning the bathroom, popping all that laundry in the wash, or just watching the baby while she has a chance to bathe herself. She can even have a proper nap (because we all know that ’sleep when the baby sleeps’ doesn’t actually work in the real world)!
Founder and CMO (Chief Mummying Officer) Beth is well qualified to offer this service, having studied counselling and child development, and worked as a live-in nanny to families in London, Paris and beyond. She’s also a mum herself. Beth hires only the best ‘helpers’ for her crew, all first-aid trained and DBS checked and meeting her exacting standards.
Beth says, ‘Unlike when friends and family visit (after a new baby), I’ve created a service where telling people what needs doing is 100% guilt free. I don’t want clients to feel obliged to clean the house or look presentable before we arrive, or even make conversation if they don’t want to – I know just how exhausting that can feel in the midst of young baby sleeplessness. Instead, we arrive, get whatever needs doing done without fuss, and are on our way once the session is over leaving behind calm, cleanliness, and a rested parent.’
Doesn’t that sound AMAZING?! I wish this service had existed when my nippers were tiny. I had relocated to London when I was 7 months pregnant, and my husband and I had our first baby together without any immediate family nearby. Being a mum changed my life in so many incredible ways, but boy was it a shock to the system. I would have been thrilled to bits if somebody had gifted me a Mummy Company voucher so I could get that much-needed break.
The Mummy Company currently covers London and Kent but plans to expand to other areas soon. Gift vouchers are available for two-hour or four-hour sessions, which can include:
-Tidying and cleaning
-Washing, hanging and folding laundry
-Making a meal
-Bouncing babies up and down
-Squeaking the baby’s favourite toy while you doze off on the sofa…
The sky’s the limit. Buy a voucher for a new mum friend or relative and she will be your BFF forever. Or why not treat yourself?

I would love this for my daughter. It would be so nice for her to be able to focus on my granddaughter, instead of trying to tidy up, clean and do laundry at the same time as playing and keeping my granddaughter occupied.
