It’s that awkward time of year when you’re not sure whether to take a jacket, leave the brolly at home (um, don’t… it’s London innit?) or finally break out your pedicured toes in some nifty sandals. The British weather has outdone itself this ’springtime’ by managing to rain, snow, sleet, hail, thunderstorm, heatwave and rain again — sometimes all in one day!
Still, it’s the perfect excuse to refresh your wardrobe, especially if you’re planning a getaway. I turned to fashion portal Lyst to help put together a holiday capsule wardrobe for a short beach/city break.
Lyst is a fabulous site where you can shop from the world’s top designers and shopping outlets in a single checkout. It’s really enjoyable browsing the vast range of styles but I must warn you — it’s a little addictive!
12 Piece Holiday Capsule Wardrobe
1. Daytime dress
a) Blue Bridson Wrap Dress £65
I love a wrap dress, they’re so versatile and this happens to be in one of my favourite colours. I especially like the way it layers and folds.
b) Orange Marloe Origami Cami Dress £55 (below left)
I’ve also taken a fancy to this tangerine dress with spaghetti straps and origami panelling. Both dresses could be dressed down for daytime or rocked on a night out, with a little accessorising. Why not cheat and pack both?

2. Kaftan top
Black Sun Warrior Dharma Crochet Kaftan, from £79 (sale)
This semi-sheer kaftan would look great over swimwear, layered with a cami top and jeans, or belted as a mini dress.
3. Jeans
Goldsign Blue His Jean £187
Skinny jeans don’t work for my shape, so I’m digging the super flattering boyfriend silhouette of the His Jean by GoldSign.
4. Flat sandals
Silver ‘georgette’ Strappy Leather Slide Sandals £90
Pair with the jeans or one of the dresses above. The combo of black and silver works with almost any style of outfit.
5. Evening dress
Malene Birger Gold Sleeveless Scarf Dress from £88 (sale price)
You can’t beat a little black dress and Malene Birger’s scarf dress is guaranteed to make you swirl on the dance floor! What I love about this dress is that it’s so forgiving and can be worn as a maternity or post natal dress.

6. Cardigan
Wool & the Gang Yellow Peggy Cardigan £150
Always include a light cardigan for breezy evenings. Love the yellow tone.
7. T-shirt
Finery London Olive Savoy V Neck Jersey Tee £20
Relaxed fit, smooth finish jersey Tee that’s versatile and will roll up neatly in your hand luggage. Wear with jeans, statement jewellery and heels for a night on the town.
8. Heels
Love Moschino Yellow Sandals £171
These funky heels complement the cardi and t-shirt, and they add a playful touch to the skirt and dresses in the capsule wardrobe.

9. Culottes
Achro Beige Culottes £62
Culottes are another classic look that can go quite wrong in the wrong hands (or on the wrong frame). However, I think these gorgeous drapey soft pleated Achro culottes in crowd-pleasing beige would suit pretty much anyone.
10. Camisole
Ghost Nara Top Black £69
Pack several camisole tops if possible, as they’re light, great for layering under clothes or wearing alone with some cool bottoms and hot bling. This one from Ghost is ultra pretty.
11. Skirt
Needle & Thread Black Tulle Ballet Midi Skirt £65
I’ve been craving a tutu since I featured some gorgeous girls’ tutus on the blog a while back. This midi skirt from Needle & Thread is half-way between a tutu and a flare skirt and I LOVE it.
12. Denim jacket
Blue Classic Jean Jacket Vintage Wash £289
A denim jacket is a wardrobe staple that’s perfect for transitioning between seasons. I wouldn’t spend this much on a denim jacket myself, but I love the cut and finish so it’s on my lust list!
Don’t forget to include: A beach bag pre-filled with flip flops, sarong, sunhat and sunglasses. Bon voyage!

Hey Nomita, let me tell you I could spend the whole day on Lyst, it’s a problem lol! I LOVE that wrap dress and also the tutu skirt, in fact this is basically my wish list and don’t be surprised if you see me one day rocking each and every one of these items haha. I’ve been very much in the mood for upgrading and streamlining my closet and the simplicity of shopping in Lyst is just the ticket for that ;-) x
