Take a mini tour of Essex from a local’s point of view…
Across the rest of the UK, there is a picture people have of Essex that is very unfair. Based largely around the TV show The Only Way is Essex, some people think the county is all about fake tans and veneers but this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Never believe everything you see on the TV and remember that most of the homes in Essex are situated in the charming and picturesque villages and towns that dot the county.
Beautiful Essex
Essex is a big county that runs from the edge of East London to the coast. It is dominated by beautiful countryside, gently rolling hills and flat agricultural land.
In fact, on a summer’s day there are very few places more beautiful in the UK, and you won’t find a fake tan in sight.
With so many stunning villages boasting strong communities, real character and great tradition, Essex should really be more famous for these than for a “reality” TV show.
Make the most of village life
Many of the villages in the county are based around a village green, where you will still find summer fetes and cricket matches in the summer months. Great Bentley is in fact renowned for having the largest village green in the entire country.
Also in Great Bentley you’ll find more than 30 clubs and societies, a keen conservation group looking after the local wildlife and plenty of other community activities and events. This is village life in the great British tradition and it is still going on in villages across the county.
Live in one of these villages and you’ll realise how pleasing it can be to be part of a community and yet you are probably less than an hour from London, meaning commuting to work is still a possibility. With the Essex coast only a few minutes’ drive away, villages in Essex leave you perfectly positioned to make the most of life.
So, if you’re growing tired of city living or if the town is getting you down, then why not think about relocating to Essex and enjoying a traditional village lifestyle? Feel part of a community, create your cosy home and still be within touching distance of all the amenities and facilities you could need in the modern world. It really is making the very best of all the different aspects available to you in life.
