My 2 year old has gone from jock to geek this past week, thanks to getting his own toddler laptop sent for review by the kind folks at Leapfrog. You can find Jed after a power breakfast, sitting in his ‘executive’ chair and checking his emails, while one of his assistants (typically Mr. Potato Head) takes notes.
That’s right, My Own Leaptop actually comes with email messages that you can personalise and download via the Leapfrog web site. You can add up to 8 personal notes including messages from loved ones. I’m looking forward to seeing Jed’s face when he gets an email from Grandma in Nigeria!
The keyboard has modes for playing music (create a custom playlist online), learning the alphabet and discovering animals with cute animations that made both Jed and Ezra laugh. There’s even a feature that will appeal to mummy bloggers: Leapfrog character Scout the puppy writes a blog!
For Jed, who loves numbers (he can go 1 to 30 independently, yes I’m bragging), the only thing missing on his laptop is a counting function.
However this has actually been a useful way of getting him to focus more on learning the alphabet and he was soon won over by all the extra features – especially Scout doing the booty shake.
‘Look Mummy, he’s wiggling his bum bum,’ Jed says, giggling.
Beyonce, eat your heart out.
