I’m excited to announce a new feature on Babes about Town, subtly called POW!
It stands for Pick of the Week (I know, technically that’s POTW, but POW! has a bit more punch).
Every Monday, we’ll be spotlighting our Pick of the Week – this could be an event, product, service, venue, person or news item that we don’t want you to miss.
We’re launching this series with Imagine Free, starting today at Southbank Centre. This is the kick-off for the annual Imagine Children’s Festival, a month-long celebration of storytelling, music and visual arts.
Imagine Free offers workshops and events based around the festival, but completely free to participate. Highlights include:
My Life Illuminated
A series of light sculptures created by children supported by the London charity Kids Company (Feb 7-Mar 6)
Comic Book Gang
Join poet Caroline Bird and composer Matt Rogers in an exciting adventure filled with comic book characters (Sat/Sun, Feb 12-27)
Strictly Family Ballroom
Young and old step out to a live band in this family-friendly edition of the Southbank’s massively popular ballroom event. (Sat Feb 20, 12.30pm)
Bookworm Babies
Go under the sea with DJ/poet Charlie Dark’s original soundtrack for babies and toddlers, inspired by old school hip hop. (Feb 21-25, 10.30am)
Kids Takeover
A topsy turvy day when the Southbank Centre is run entirely by children aged 7-12. (Feb 22, from 10am)
Imagine Free is at Southbank Centre, SE1 from Feb 7 until Mar 7
Imagine Children’s Festival runs from Feb 12-Feb 27
