Well hello there, SITStas. I can hardly believe this day is here. I literally slapped my own face in delight (ouch!) when I got the email announcing my feature day was coming up.
For those who still don’t know, SITS is an amazing community of 6000-strong bloggers (and counting) who offer feedback, advice and support to fellow members. Every true SITSta gets their moment in the spotlight and today is all about me. I’ve even got my party hat on!
So welcome to Babes about Town, a city guide for parents in London and beyond. My aim is to inspire new parents to recover their cool and to rediscover the joys of city living – even with nippers in tow.
To that end, I like to check out hot spots around town with my little homies – Ezra, aged 4 going on 14:
And Jed, 18 months and a full blown toddlerist.
Aside from reviewing events, restaurants, products and all that good stuff, you’ll also catch me rambling on about having my Breasts Interrupted, the thorny issue of Trying for a Girl and the weird but wonderful impact of motherhood in my post 10 Most Surreal Mummy Moments.
Please enjoy your stay, subscribe for updates and don’t hesitate to leave feedback. I’ll try and respond to every single comment.
I’ve met some pretty cool chicks via SITS and I’m looking forward to getting to know more of you!
Cheryl D.
Congrats on your SITS Day! Your boys are so gorgeous! That’s great that you take them out and about all over London! I’ve been terrible about taking my daughter and and about Los Angeles! LOL!

Congratulations on your special day. I hope today brings you lots of new followers and tons of comment love.
You have a beautiful blog. I’m off to explore!

Your sons are adorable! My son is Jed’s age. It’s a fun age! Happy SITS day! :-)
Jade @ No Longer 25
Good morning and happy SITS day to you! I’m looking forward to reading some of your London suggestions – I’ve not got kids, although I’m really still a big kid at heart. I love London so much, there’s so much to do there.
We try to get down at least two or three times a year (from Aberdeen) there’s just so much to do and see. Hopefully in the future we’ll be able to show our own family our favourite parts of the big smoke.
Have a lovely day,
Jade

Happy SITS day!!! I love your blog and was so excited to see you as today’s featured blogger. Yay!! Going to stick around and read here for a little while I’m here. :)

Fab blog! Ezra and Jed are too cute! Congrats on your SITS Day! Sending smiles and best wishes from Australia. :)

I was so glad to see that you’re featured on SITS today! I love your “real” take on motherhood, and the deep love you have for your little boys is always evident in your writing. I especially liked “Breasts, Interrupted.” I nursed my children until they weaned themselves, and they were never sick during that time. When they got into school, part of me wished they were still nursing so that we could prevent some of the colds they were catching! Have a wonderful day in the spotlight!

Congrats on your SITS day!
There’s a good chance we’ll be moving to London in a year or two for my husband’s work – he’ll be doing fly-in fly-out, so maybe I should start doing research about what to do with two little ones in tow in London.
Your boys are adorable!

I love when SITS features a blogger from another country. Its a chance for me to learn more about a new place.
Your description of small children as “nippers” had me laughing because all I could envision was a small ankle-biting type doggie chasing me and I realized that adequately described my children when they were toddlers! Truth be told, they’re both still quite nippy!
Reenie
Happy SITS day!
Love your blog, I just enjoyed an eyeful of your post about gender disappointment. I have seen my own mother wanting another daughter very longingly when she was pregnant with my brother… I still feel it’s unfair that he is aware that the parents wanted girls… But maybe I think too much.
Enjoyed your post. May I say you are very lovely? And cute kids.
All the best.
Heather
What a wonderful blog! Your boys are SO good looking! I love how you incorporate your reviews as well! I’m off to read! Have a great SITS day!

Happy SITS Day!!!! Your sons are soooo cute. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Congrats on your day! I loved your post on gender disappointment. I have to say that I can understand wanting both a boy and a girl but I agree with you that perspective is everything. It’s so easy to get consumed with what we want and forget what we have and perhaps swapping with women who can not have children would remind them how lucky they are. I’m not saying that they can’t hope for a girl but they should be grateful for their boys.
Can’t wait to check out more posts!

Happy SITS Day! It’s cool you have arts events and museums as part of your children’s lives–the trip to the V&A sounds like fun.

Happy SITS day! Sounds like you get out-and-about with your little guys and have a lot of fun! I admire that, too often I stay home because I think it’ll be too much work to take my 3 out of the house. Looking around your blog for some inspiration!

HAPPY SITS DAY!
I’ve been by before…I remember reading your breast feeding entry. It always amazes me how small the blogging world can be even when you’re in London, I’m in Holland, and I most likely found you through an American blog.
Makes me proud to be a part of such a strong blog community. Enjoy your day in the spotlight!
Oh yea…and JUST last weekend I was in London…man was it fabulous!
Julia
very cool site you have!! if i ever go to London, I”m looking you up!! ;)

Congrats on your SITS day. I’ve been dreaming of visiting London for years. Now I can just wander through your blog for a taste of London life :)
Lynn
Happy SITS day! London is my absolute favoritest city in the world. I used to live in Amsterdam and hopped over with regularity. Of course, this was pre-kids so I wasn’t worried about family friendly activities. Now that I’m a mom, I don’t think I’ll get back for a while. But I’d love to take my daughter someday.
Kate
HAPPY SITS DAY!!!
I love your blog design!

Congratulations on your SITS day. How much did you pay Ezra for that amazing pose? He even has the pouty lip thing going on of a super model!

Happy SITS Day to you!
You have beautiful kids.

Hope you enjoy every minute of your special day. What a great thing to do . . .end dog poopy on the streets. I mean, what is wrong with people? One of my biggest pet peeves is going for a walk with my little one, and having to go around dog “poop” on the sidewalk. Congrats on your SITS day!

Congratulations on your SITs feature! I hope you enjoy your day in the sun:-)

Congratulations on your SITS day from here in the States! I seem to always get excited when I discover a new blogger who lives in another part of the world – it’s like virtual travel for me minus the flight anxiety.
Your blog is lovely, and I’m looking forward to taking the tour.
Peace. ;)

Congratulations on your SITS day! I hope you enjoy all of your comments and visitors. Those sure are some CUTE little boys. I loved reading your post about gender disappointment. I am pregnant with my second son and was actually depressed for a few days following the news of carrying another boy. I really wanted a girl and now I feel so guilty for wishing this precious boy was ever a girl. I’m hoping my boys will be lifelong best friends and will always think their Mamma is the best woman they ever knew. ;)
Darcel @ The Mahogany Way
Happy SITS Day! I’m excited to poke around on your blog.
You have a beautiful family.

I’m looking forward to reading about your adventures in trying for a girl. We’ve been trying to find her for 6 years now and 3 boys later, we’re finally admitting we’re content to leave her where she’s at. I’d still love a girl, but knowing me, I’d get a fourth boy!
Enjoy your SITS day!
Krysten
Dropping by from SITS, congrats on your SITS day!

Happy SITS Day! I love your son’s picture! Ezra was a name on my list for The Boy when we learned his gender. I think it’s a beautiful strong name!
I’ve only been to England once before, but would love to go back again. I can’t wait to read up on your reviews of places and see if I have been there!

I think you have such a smart idea for a (niche) blog! And something that many women can find value in.
Love the photo of you with the feathery headdress!

I love your take on trophy wives! Great theory and you give the term a ripping jump shot, a stinging spike, all with your delightful English spin. Happy SITS!!

Happy SITS day! I love the photos. Nothing like finding our coolness again. I’m looking forward to reading your posts.

Happy SITS day!
Kerry
First off, your babies are gorgeous! I simply adore listening to little kids speak with a British accent. Can you do a vlog with your kids? ;)
Second off, your doggy poo campaign is brilliant! Here in Seattle, dog owners are required to pick up the hot steaming poo (eww!) but yet many do not. Not that I blame them but that is part of the reason we don’t have a dog.
Christina
Happy SITS day! Super cute kiddos!
Jenni Chiu
Beautiful Babes!!
I’m gonna go poke around your site.
Nice to meet you, fellow Sitstah!

Happy, happy day, SITSta! I have to say, whatever other talents you may possess, clearly your number one superpower is producing BEAUTIFUL children! I don’t always gush over other people’s kids, but holy smokes! Yours are adorable.
I’m commenting now, becaue I’m not sure if I’ll have time later. But I expect to spend some time on your site later today.
Enjoy your day, and tell Miz Elizabeth, YOU’RE queen today!

Congrats on your day!! How exciting. And I LOVE London, wish I could be there now. I live in Missouri (USA) but love to travel. Your babies are sooooo cute.
I know a family who kept having boys and wanted a girl and wanted a girl and wanted, well you get the idea. Finally they had 5 boys and she got pregnant again…and had twin girls!! Be careful what you wish for, huh!!
melissa aka equidae
happy SITS day- love the way your blog looks
OMG! Yummy
Love your blog! congrats on your SITS day! enjoyed your post about dog doo tremendously. I live in a gated community in California with all kinds of restricting Homeowner’s Assoc. rules presumably because people want to live in a pristine, safe, clean environment and yet my neighbors regularly leave their dog’s poo on the sidewalk, foliage next to the sidewalk etc. I don’t get the mentality. If you ever catch someone in the act, be sure to toss them one of your little one’s dirty diapers to throw away for you. I think it’s a smashing idea! Hope you have a great day!
karen@strictlysimplstyle
OMG, you little guys are the cutest! Enjoy your SITS day to the fullest!
Mayra
Congrats on your SITS day!! Enjoy!!
I definitely agree on your way of thinking when it comes to wandering the city even with kiddos. Just because they tag along doesn’t it mean it can be lots of fun and you can still find great places.
Your kiddos are soo cute.
I already follow your blog.. And get it by email., so just stopping by to wish you a happy SITs Day!!

I was reading the post about that tray and bowl thing. I work in a day care and man I wish we had 16 of those. Some meals just cover the floor in food.

Your kids are adorable and your blog fun.
Can’t believe that woman in the hair salon would come over and literally tap your child to get off your breast. WOW! Amazing that you took it so calmly. Good for you.
Hope you enjoyed your big day.
