My 15-month-old Jed is what you might call a sumo baby. His nana says he weighs like he’s made of gold (he’s certainly worth his weight in the precious stuff).
One of the most useful purchases I made even before he was born was a cloth sling. It’s a one-shoulder carrier that became essential to lug my heavy bubba around in the park, at playgroup, or especially when travelling abroad.
I’m definitely an advocate of babywearing and I was delighted to meet Fiona of Tots Bots at the Baby Show. Among its cloth nappies and textiles, Tots Bots makes the hugely popular Papoozle baby slings. They’re double-shouldered with padded waistband to help spread the weight evenly across your body. The shoulder straps are stretchy with extra padding to increase comfort.
The sling can be worn in multiple positions and used to carry your little one from newborn up until the toddler stage. What’s more, unlike some carriers on the market, the Papoozle is easy to slip on and off (there are instructions on the web site if you need extra help). It’s little surprise that the Papoozle won the Mother & Baby Gold Award 2008/2009 for best sling or carrier.

I’ve never tried a sling, but with a newborn, this might be the answer!

I love the concept of baby wearing and I hope to be able to do so. I tried to check out the site, but my job is blocking it (LOL, how dare they) and the site is flash so I can’t access it on my phone.

Hi Ms Understoode, naughty you browsing at work (ha). Good luck!

Looks like a great product. I used another type of sling with my first child, and next time round I am hoping to try different options. Thanks!

Hi Kathy, I know, my little one’s still technically wearable but just too heavy to be carting around, so I too miss those days ;-)

Hi Lizzy I hope you’re aware this comp is from a couple of years back but I’m sure you can still track down a Papoozle elsewhere. Best of luck with the new baby!
