Ping pong & party at Barbican!

March 5, 2010 //  by Uju//  Leave a Comment

What are you up to this weekend? Fancy a game of designer ping pong?

Challenge somebody to a match on one of several tables created by artists paying homage to designer Ron Arad’s passion for the sport.

Come Along Ping Pong is just one of the weird and wonderful things you can get up to at Do Something Different Weekend, the two day arts fest at Barbican Centre (part of the East season celebrating London’s East End culture) on March 7-8.

Here you can try anything from Bollywood dancing to helping construct ‘Barbopolis’, an imaginary city made of stuff like cheese triangles and marshmallows.

Activity zones around the centre invite kids of all ages to Make, Play, Watch, Noise, Move and Craft. Highlights for under 5s include workshops to make flower garlands, colourful floor patterns or Rajasthani mobiles.

And once the young ‘uns are in bed, head down to the Silent Disco, where you can make like a mime artist to sounds only you and your fellow clubbers can hear. Just pop on your headset and feel the groove.

Check the web site for further info.
