Have your cake at Bake-a-Boo

January 20, 2010 //  by Uju//  4 Comments

With birthdays on my mind, I’m drawn back to an exquisite bakery that’s slightly out of my postcode but worth the trek.

Tucked away in West Hampstead, Bake-a-Boo* is an unexpected treat.

Popular amongst local parents, it’s a bit of a tight squeeze and our pushchairs were bumper to bumper. The ladies behind the counter were friendly and did their utmost to make us comfortable.

Our afternoon tea consisted of a steaming mug of English Breakfast and a moist yet fluffy Victoria Sponge slice for me, a milkshake and a marshmallow-topped cupcake for my date. The little mister was sceptical about the marshmallow (?!) but gave the cupcake, and the chatty staff, a ‘high-five’ rating.

It’s a lovely spot to throw a girlie tea party or a birthday and the owner was in the back room laying a gorgeous spread for just such an occasion.

Bake-a-boo has an old-school charm, serving up home-baked goodies and sweets some might remember from two decades ago. They also sell gluten, wheat and dairy-free delights for anyone suffering from allergies and intolerances.

Feast your eyes at the Bake-a-Boo web site.

Sounds wonderful & makes me wish I was there. I’ll just have to find a substitute somewhere a bit more local.

    Happy SITS Staturday Sharefest!

Hi Shelley, it is a gem of a cake shop. Do let me know if you find one and if I’m ever in your neck of the woods, I’ll be sure to try it out ;-)
