Christmas Spectacular at The Berkeley

Every year, we receive at least one Christmas invitation that sparks our curiosity. The Children’s Christmas Spectacular at the Berkeley Hotel, is a unique attraction organised by bespoke birthdays, weddings and events promoters Chaika Events. They promised a journey to ‘Lapland’ with interactive performances, Santa’s photo grotto, real reindeer and a polar bear!

When we arrived at the Berkeley Hotel ballroom, it was slightly disappointing to hear that the polar bear and reindeer had already left (I imagine their needs were more pressing than sticking around for photo ops).

However there was still lots to charm and delight, from glow juggling ice people to characters like Foxy and the Snow Queen coming to engage with the kids, before they hit the stage later. The inflatable reindeer rodeo was a giggle and we were thrilled to say hi to real penguins.

Everything had a mystical glow over it —- or maybe that was from the champagne I was handed on entry, that kept being refilled as if by magic. The children were having a ball too, with free candy floss stations, lollipops and candy cane, white chocolate fountain with marsh mallows and other treats dished out. We ate candied popcorn that turned our tongues blue.

The boys met Santa who was a bit of a clown: catch Father Christmas on Instagram joking with Jed over his Christmas wish (my little guy must be feeling extra lucky this year)!

Afterwards, we watched the Christmas Spectacular performance featuring lively Reindeer, crafty Fox, wicked Snow Queen, Snow King and a funny looking Santa. It was very well done and the kids in the audience got fully into the pantomime atmosphere. Ezra’s highlight was throwing a fake snowball at the Snow Queen when she wasn’t looking.

The funniest act was an Elf who blew up a giant balloon then proceeded to climb inside and bounce around in it! He was the same balloon modeller that afterwards fulfilled Jed’s request for a ‘Christmas machine gun’ balloon. Very festive.

Children’s Christmas Spectacular was lots of fun, although it’s not quite on the same scale as the Enchanted Christmas House that is similarly high-end in pricing, yet offers more interactive play zones, a meal at the end and a personalised Santa visit.

However, I can see this event growing year after year. Chaika Events appears to be a super creative team, so future visitors can expect more Christmas Spectacular treats to come!

This looks incredible, that Santa (hilare) and the elf that jumps around in a ball he blows up himself, I am feeling a film script coming on. Best line was the champagne glow. I love you. That is all. Loved this post so much babe-your boys are just edible, miss you all x
