LolliBop Festival: Win Tickets!

July 6, 2010 by Uju 38 Comments

The party’s over at Glastonbury but summer festival season’s only warming up.

And just when you thought it was safe to pack away your tents, wellies and memories of portaloo queues, there’s a growing number of outdoor jams aimed at the sling and buggy set.

We’re cow over moon happy to have been invited to cover the LolliBop Festival here in London on July 17-18.

This brand new bash is offering a weekend like nothing you’ve ever experienced. Its prime audience are kids under 10 and their adult hangers-on.

Taking over Clissold Park in Stoke Newington for the weekend, LolliBop promises to be not so much a mind trip as an imaginary odyssey to a land where play is king. Giant lollipops, blue trees, cardboard castles, dragons breathing fire…and not a magic mushroom in sight.

The LolliBop line-up features Captain of Planet Ajay (CBeebies), comic Phil Kay, music man Gustafer Yellowgold and more (sadly Jarvis Cocker’s pulled out).

There’ll be everything from racing at the Lollipolympics to grooving at teeny-tiny nightclub, the Miniscule of Sound. Babes of all ages can pick up circus tricks, learn hoola hooping moves, pimp your pushchairs or just chill out in the Boob and Booty Boudoir (nursing and nappy-changing) or the Adult Creche (aka the bar).

Sounds cool? We defy you not to have a blast.

**Win Free Tickets**
LolliBop has kindly provided us with one Family Ticket (worth up to £53) to a lucky reader and one set of Adult & Child Tickets to a runner-up. Enter just by leaving a comment on this post. Winner will be chosen at random and notified via email and on the blog. Competition closing date Wed July 14 midnight (GMT).

1 Day Tickets for LolliBop cost Child £14.50 adv, £17.50 on the gate; Adult £9 adv, £12 on the gate. Family (2 kids, 2 adults) £42 adv, £53 on the gate. Babies under 12 months go free.

LolliBop is on July 17-18, 11am-7pm at Clissold Park, Stoke Newington N18.

Find out more and buy tickets at the LolliBop web site (www.lollibopfestival.com)

I’m really looking forward to this – with two kids age 4 and 2, I’m sure there will be tons to keep them both occupied – free tickets would be even better tho!! ;o)

So nice that there are so many child friendly events taking place these days. North London seems to be the place to have kids! Looking forward to it and thanks for your updates–so good to know what is going on locally.

I laughed so much when I first saw the miniscule of sound! I want to take my two kids along to this festival because it looks utterly magical.

Hi Nina, you’re right, there’s a plethora of stuff to do in North London and indeed all around town. It’s gonna be a busy summer! Good luck :-)

I’m so glad that events like this are happening, and that you are doing this website to let us know about them. One of the things that I have found hardest about becoming a parent is giving up going to adult events. I have given up going to festivals as I really can’t get the childcare, and even if I could I’d miss my son too much. Lollipop is the best of both worlds and as it is in London not a queue for a shower in sight! Can’t wait……..
