Spa mama

January 20, 2010 by Uju 3 Comments

Hedonism comes in many forms. For new parents, just a couple of hours pampering away from the munchkins can feel quite decadent.

Probably one of my best surprises from Papa Cheeks was a gift voucher for Agua Spa at the uber-hip Sanderson Hotel in central London.

This 10,000-square foot urban paradise features 14 treatment rooms, chill-out and meditation zones and so much white everywhere you could imagine you’re at one of P Diddy’s infamous Hampton parties (minus hoochies and hubbub).

Nestled in one of their luxurious robes and slippers after a quick shower, I was led to a massage bed where I indulged in a deep tissue aromatherapy rub-down followed by a citrus body polish that left me glowing. The therapist was extremely chatty which some might not like but actually helped me relax (after spending your days caring for others, it’s strangely hard to unwind at first). I informed her I was breastfeeding at the time, so she adapted her aromatherapy oils and stroke technique accordingly.

My favourite treatment was probably the hydrotherapy bath (check for availability) with jet streams that really revved up my system. Once my booking was over, there was still time to laze around in the sauna and order up a tasty salmon dish from the hotel restaurant for lunch.

Agua’s range of therapies are primed to suit all big city babes including packages for men (bring a date for Valentine’s) and mamas-to-be. Top on their list of facials is the ‘Eve Lom signature’, a beauty editor’s favourite. If you can’t spare much time away, many of their specials are available as express treatments.

Call Agua on 020 7300 1414 or visit the web site for details on how to book.

LOL well yeah I’m partial too but definitely not when attempting to decompress! Babes about Town will definitely keep you posted on any hubbub that’s bubba friendly too ;-)
